Same Day Crowns

Kruckman Family Dentistry offers ONE appointment crowns. This new, state-of-the-art method uses computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). This new technology has revolutionized ceramic dental treatments such as dental crowns and veneers for patients. Now, there is no longer a wait between the preparation of the restoration and finally receiving the finished product. The technology is used while you are sitting in the chair, which is economical for both you and your dentist. This cosmetic dentistry technology creates restorations that are tooth colored and restores your smile back to its natural beauty, strength and functionality. Thanks to CAD-CAM technology, these dental procedures can all be done in one single visit to your Waconia-, Victoria-, and Carver-area dentist.

CAD-CAM technology is used to design and mill custom restorations during one visit to the dentist. So how does this process work?

Exam and Preparation

Before getting started, Dr. Kruckman will determine if a crown is right for you. Depending on how much healthy tooth structure you have remaining, it may be a simple dental procedure. After reviewing your options, Dr.Kruckman will begin the process by administering anesthetic and preparing your tooth for restoration by removing decay and weakened tooth tissue.

Optical Impression

Then a 3-dimensional image of the tooth that needs to be restored is created from a digital camera scan of the tooth. This 3-dimensional image will be used to create the restoration without the need to take those messy impressions we’ve dealt with before. The computer and CAD/CAM 3D software then convert the digital image into a 3-dimensional, virtual model of the prepared tooth.

Milling Unit

This tool is used to create the crown or veneer. Based on the original color of your tooth, your dentist is able to select the correct colored ceramic block and create the restoration needed.

Placing the Restoration

Once the restoration is created, it is time for it to be tried on to make sure that there is proper fit and bite. When ready, the restoration is polished and bonded into place by Dr.Kruckman. All in one visit.
